TILL FELLRATH
Executive Director

MBA University of St. Gallen
MSc London School of Economics
AAS Parsons the New School for Design

“As the Executive Director of Art Reoriented it is my vision to promote global understanding through the arts. From a very young age I was exposed to people from all walks of life, and I learned about the importance of mutual respect, tolerance, and dialogue. The arts were always my biggest passion and I am an advocate of education and sharing of knowledge to empower others to achieve their goals and dreams”

Till Fellrath worked for ten years as an independent business consultant focusing on non-profit organizations worldwide. He developed a special expertise in strategy, finance and cultural management. From 2005 until 2009 he was the Managing Director of the Chelsea Art Museum in New York, overseeing the production of over 50 international exhibitions and cultural programs.

For six years Till was a lecturer in Economics at both the London School of Economics and the Singapore Institute of Management. He lived and worked in diverse cultural environments, including the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Belgium, Spain, Japan, Singapore, Germany and the United States, and frequently traveled throughout the Middle East.

His educational background combines degrees from the University of St Gallen and the London School of Economics in business and political science with an arts degree from Parsons the New School of Design. This unique combination enables him to find creative solutions and to approach challenges from an all-encompassing point of view.

SAM BARDAOUIL
Curatorial Director

MA Art History University of Bristol, UK
MFA Advanced Theater Practice The Central School of Speech and Drama, the University of London, UK

“Co-Founding Art Reoriented is my way of advocating creative expression as a means of overcoming prejudice. Growing up in war-torn Beirut, I witnessed the futility of fighting over blind ideologies. Yet on a daily basis, I was playing with children from diverse backgrounds whose disputes never exceeded the scores of a football game. Ever since, art has become my means of examining issues of injustice, identity and social change.”

Sam Bardaouil has over ten years of experience as a curator, theater practitioner and an academic in the Middle East region and beyond. He has curated numerous exhibitions with a wide range of international institutions such as the Fondazione Volume in Rome, Tashkeel in Dubai, the Chelsea Art Museum in New York, and the Goethe Institute in Berlin. As a theater practitioner, he has directed and acted in several productions, and participated in theater and art festivals such as Avignon and Edinburgh. He has also lectured in art history and theater practice at a number of universities including the American University of Beirut, the American University in Dubai, La Sorbonne and the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University.

Sam’s heightened awareness of issues relating to cultural stereotyping has constantly informed his curatorial practice. He steers away from the conventional repertoire of themes and forms that viewers might expect from artists coming out form the Arab world and the greater Middle East. His approach to exhibition conception and design is very much enhanced by his wide-ranging experience as a theater practitioner. He approaches art works as though they were characters in a play allowing them to engage the viewer with their intricate subtexts.
